Romy & Michele's High School Reunion is one of the most memorable comedies of the 1990s, and though it's endured as a cult fave over the last near-three decades, its box office failure hardly suggested it'd ever land a sequel.

But back in June, it was most unexpectedly announced that a Romy and Michele's High School Reunion sequel had started shooting, with Mira Sorvino, Lisa Kudrow, Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Camryn Manheim, and Julia Campbell all reprising their roles from the original.

Tim Federle (Camp Rock 3) directs a script from original Romy and Michele writer Robin Schiff, with the film set to forego a theatrical release and instead go straight to Hulu.

Even accepting that hugely belated comedy sequels have a massively mixed track record, especially the straight-to-streaming ones, Sorvino and Kudrow have championed the sequel long enough that it's easy to see it as more of a passion project than a quick paycheck gig. Fingers crossed.
