14. Heart Eyes II

On paper, Heart Eyes seemed like it might be the next big horror franchise, considering the novel cleverness of a Valentine's Day-themed slasher flick and the first film's generally solid critical reception.

Filmmaker Josh Ruben was keen to develop a sequel, though this seemed to go up in smoke when the film did middling business at the box office, grossing barely $30 million against its $18 million budget.

Considering that analysts pointed out that Heart Eyes underperformed with couples, that seemingly killed any chance of it spawning a sequel, let alone an ongoing franchise.

But not quite.

Back in April, it was confirmed that Heart Eyes II has been fast-tracked into development with a release date of February 11, 2028 already set in stone.

Ruben will return to direct while original stars Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding are also expected to return. 

Needless to say, it'll be interesting to see if this sequel finds a way to become a breakout hit and grow the burgeoning brand.
