20 Recent Movies EVERYONE Knew Would Suck

11. Regretting You

Regretting You is a Colleen Hoover adaptation, and considering how her previous film It Ends with Us turned out, few non-fans could muster much optimism for her latest.

Hoover's source material was a trashy airport novel of a romantic drama - shamelessly melodramatic and manipulative, but considering its immense popularity, why try changing that for the movie and risk derailing the gravy train?

And so, Regretting You is at least a faithful adaptation that seemingly pleased most fans of Hoover's novel, even if critics and non-acolytes were decidedly harsher in their assessments.

Considering how unintentionally hilarious and impossible-to-take-seriously this sappy farce is, it basically cements Hoover as the modern-day Nicholas Sparks, and as long as her movies continue to produce strong box office receipts, they're probably not going away anytime soon.

Since this film's release another Hoover adaptation, Reminders of Him, has already been released to a similarly ropey reception, and the Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson-starring Verity is also due to drop in October.
