Even the most ardent fans of Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo have been a little skeptical about the Michael Bay produced reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - but the new trailer shows that our fears about Jonathan Liebsman's movie may be a little premature. Fans have been desperate to know more about the movie, and this trailer certainly provides them with some real clues as to how the film, released on August 8 in the US and October 17 in the UK will shape-up. Firstly there are some interesting nods to recent popular culture - with Raphael accused of having a 'Batman voice', a nod to Christian Bale's dark portrayal of Bruce Wayne. The trailer also mocks the rumours which circulated stating that in this entry the turtles would be aliens, describing such an idea as, "stupid". Another big reveal however is the presence of Shredder as having what can only described as a 'robot samurai' suit. Fans got their first look at shredder a week ago, but here we get to see him in action - and he looks like a pretty destructive villain. She may be a tad too hot for some purists, but isn't half as bad as may have been expected. The biggest reveal though is the fact that there may be a Star Wars style death scene for the TMNT's mentor Splinter - who's shown whispering wise words to his pupils after apparently battling shredder and coming off worse. Aside from that there's the predictable explosions and CGI carnage (it is after all produced by Michael Bay), but if all the film's wit hasn't just been packed into the trailer, then the film may not be the TMNT sacrilege that some expect.
