Noah: 7 Biblical Films That Should Have Come Before
Noah, the first true-blue big budget Biblical epic to be made in decades. In case you're rusty on your Sunday school, Noah is the dude who built an arc to house two of every animal in order to preserve them when God flooded the entire world in order to purge the wickedness of mankind. Darren Aronofsky is directing, he and John Logan are scripting, and Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, and Emma Watson are starring. All of those words should make you immensely excited for this film. I know I am. Regardless of how you feel about the Bible or those who follow its teachings, you can't deny that the holy book is chock-full of stories that are absolutely prime material for Hollywood adaptation. The story of Noah is a pretty good choice, full of special effects-ready imagery and a ready-made allegory for the relationship between man and nature. Seven is a significant recurring number throughout the Bible, so I'll pick seven of these stories, and give my pitch for each one.
