Once Upon A Deadpool Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

An entertaining, glorified Blu-ray extra.

The controversial PG-13 version of Deadpool 2, Once Upon A Deadpool, has just been screened for one-night-only across the UK, ahead of its longer theatrical roll-out in the US.

And though Deadpool 2 is basically still a ton of fun even in this neutered new family-friendly form, it's hard to escape the feeling that a little more effort could've been put in to truly make this Christmas-window release feel a bit more special.

While there is at least a decent amount of supplementary and alternate content here, it's sometimes at the unsurprising expense of some of Deadpool 2's best and most memorable scenes.

And overall, it's hard not to view this chopped-up version of the movie as a cynical effort, even if $1 from every ticket sold is being donated to the Fudge Cancer charity at the behest of Ryan Reynolds.

Overall, this theatrical experience is only half-way justified, and unless you're a massive fan of the movie, you might be advised to wait until it hits streaming or Blu-ray in the near-future...
