1. It's One Of Pixar's Worst Films

Onward isn't a bad movie by any means, but given the esteem of even most of Pixar's "lesser" output, it does decisively end up on the weaker end of their releases to date.

It's certainly sturdier and more entertaining than Cars 2, but of the studio's 22 movies to date, it's tough to place many others behind Onward - Cars 3 for sure, and perhaps The Last Dinosaur and Brave at a stretch, but nothing else.

Pixar has certainly spoiled audiences over the decades, and again, Onward would be undeniably viewed under a different lens if it came from, say, DreamWorks, but for the most consistently acclaimed animation studio on the planet, this can't help but feel like a rather underwhelming work.

Yet while not a great film, there is enough that nevertheless makes Onward a spry and entertaining romp for all the family. Here's what it gets right...
