2018's upcoming revival of Halloween was already shaping up to be a major reunion. Not only do we have leading lady/final girl Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode, but also John Carpenter - director, co-writer and musical composer of the 1978 original - is on board as executive producer, marking his first involvement in the series since 1982's Halloween III. Carpenter also looks set to return to do the musical score.

However, it turns out Carpenter and Curtis are not the only figures from the original Halloween who will be back in director David Gordon Green's 40th anniversary follow-up: they'll be joined by the original Michael Myers.

Bloody Disgusting report that Nick Castle, the man behind the sprayed-white William Shatner mask in the 1978 original, will reprise the role for the first time in 2018's Halloween - although it is noted that the 70-year old will share the role with actor/stunt performer James Jude Courtney.

Castle - who was credited simply as 'The Shape' in the original Halloween - is an old buddy of John Carpenter. The 1978 slasher was one of his few credited acting roles; he's better known for co-writing Carpenter's 1981 movie Escape From New York, as well as directing 1984 cult favourite The Last Starfighter.

This new take on Halloween, co-written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, is said to be a direct follow-up to the original film which completely ignores the subsequent nine sequels; a move that will doubtless prove divisive among devotees of the series, but might help keep it more accessible to a wider audience.

Of course, it's no surprise that they're taking a semi-reboot approach, as Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie was already killed off once, in 2002's Halloween: Resurrection.

59-year old Curtis will be joined by Judy Greer as Laurie Strode's daughter, and Andi Matichak as her granddaughter.
