7. The Batman Gets Three Technical Nominations

Even very, very good superhero films have a tendency to get under-recognised by the Academy, especially those releasing a full year before the next Oscar ceremony actually takes place.

So while The Batman didn't receive any above-the-line nods as expected, it did get some solid technical love, receiving nominations for Best Sound, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Visual Effects.

While it's a shame that it didn't also get into Cinematography and Score, it's still a solid showing that proves the film has remained in the general cultural consciousness almost a year later.

It doesn't stand much chance of winning any of its three nominations, but it's great to see it competing regardless.
