Oscars 2013: Who Will Win, Who Should Win

Best Actress: Will Win - Jennifer Lawrence

Earlier in the race it looked as though Jessica Chastain€™s restrained turn as a CIA operative in Zero Dark Thirty would be the primary competition to Lawrence, now it looks more like Amour€™s Emmanuelle Riva could be a sleeper pick. But this award has been Lawrence€™s to lose since Toronto, where Silver Linings Playbook premiered to rave reviews, most of which focused on the outstanding work of its young star. Her performance is full of big acting, which the Oscar voters typically love, but she also supplied some very quiet touches to her character that were equally impressive, if not more so. It€™s a complete performance, and Lawrence, receiving her second Best Actress nomination at only 22 years old, will win this one.

Best Actress: Should Win - Jennifer Lawrence

It doesn€™t have the predestined feel that Day-Lewis€™ win does, but that might only be because she doesn€™t carry the same reputation and command the same respect (yet, anyways). Hers was the best performance of the year, and it deserves to win. Side note: How is Marion Cotillard not on the list of nominees?
