Who Will Win? Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight)
Who Should Win? Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight) YES WILLIAMS! I've seen Star Wars a few times now and listened to John Williams score in isolation, and his music for The Force Awakens really does do a great job of personifying the movie. Also great to see here is Jóhann Jóhannsson for Sicario - his soundtrack was ominously present throughout and really made that movie.
But let's not get distracted here - this award belongs to Ennio Morricone. His score rose the awesome The Hateful Eight even higher, shaping that wonderful contrast of the big and the small. And that's without touching on the importance of Tarantino letting him score one of his movies in the first place.
