7. The Totally Mediocre Musical Performances

It's Oscar tradition that the Best Original Song nominees perform their tunes in-person at the show, but this year's performances were generally... not good.

For starters, Gael Garcia Bernal caused ears to bleed by joining the stage to help sing Coco's Oscar-winning "Remember Me", and Sufjan Stevens' rendition of "Mysteries of Love" felt weirdly rough, with some viewers suggesting there may have been some sort of production issue throwing the singers off.

The only truly good musical performance of the night was The Greatest Showman's "This Is Me", which fully realised the chest-thumping, over-the-top bombast that got the song nominated in the first place.

Overall, though, the songs generally fell pretty flat, possibly due to a technical snafu in the Dolby Theatre.
