Oscars 2018: Predicting All The Nominees

12. Production Design

The nominees here tend to be a mix of period dramas and major blockbusters, with past winners including Mad Max: Fury Road and The Grand Budapest Hotel (La La Land, which won last year, is something of an outlier), and things shouldn't change too much in 2018.

A lot of the nominees in Costume Design should repeat here, with Blade Runner 2049, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom Thread, and The Shape of Water all in contention. The political and period stylings of Darkest Hour will play well here too, as will its surprising companion piece, Dunkirk.
