Oscars 2019: Predicting All The Nominees

5. Adapted Screenplay

Like with its Original counterpart, Adapted Screenplay can throw up nominations and wins for films that might get overlooked in the top 4 awards (Logan and The Disaster Artist were both nominated here last year).

That probably won't lead to anything too far outside the race itself, but should mean the winner is a film that won't claim the top prize, like If Beale Steet Could Talk, BlackKklansman, and Can You Ever Forgive Me?, which have all had plenty of nominations and the odd win already. Those three are seemingly locked in, with the rest of the race coming down to Black Panther, First Man, and A Star Is Born, although Leave No Trace has been gaining a little traction too, and it'd be great to see it recognised somewhere.
