Oscars 2019: Predicting All The Nominees
18. Sound Mixing
Who needs Best Popular Film when you have, er, Sound Mixing. This is one of the few categories where blockbusters and other non-typical Oscar fare lead the way thanks to having so much action. It's also worth remembering: Editing is the assembling of every sound in the movie; Mixing is putting it all together. Musicals, or films about music (at least one of A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody should get in) also play well here, obviously, alongside war (although there aren't any in contention this year) and sci-fi movies, which should be represented here. Not quite fitting in with that, but still in with a real shot, are the technically brilliant Roma, and the silence-driven A Quiet Place.
