It's tempting to say another film deserves a chance in the spotlight here - in any other year, Cold War and Shoplifters would be worthy victors - since Roma is in contention much higher up. At the same time, though, it can't be ignored just how incredible Roma is. The others have their merits, but Roma is something truly staggering, so it's the right choice here.

Again, Roma is the best choice, but it's also the one with the broadest appeal. Since it's up for the big awards, it'll have been seen by far more voters than the others nominated here, and since it's the only one in the Best Picture race, that suggests it's going to easily win this one.
