4. Elton John Wins His First Oscar In 25 Years

As expected, Elton John and Bernie Taupin won the Best Original Song Oscar for their Rocketman tune "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again," marking the music icon's second overall Oscar win, but his first in 25 years, since scooping the very same award in 1995 for The Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight."

Elton seemed typically elated to emerge victorious, while paying tribute to Taron Egerton, whose superb performance as the man himself was curiously snubbed by the Academy.

While this year's Best Original Song field was incredibly soft, there's little arguing that the Academy chose the right winner.
