1. Parasite Beats 1917 For Best Picture

But the biggest WTF moment of the night was surely Parasite's shocking Best Picture triumph, defeating hot favourite 1917 for the big award, and giving the Oscars the first-ever foreign language Best Picture winner in their 92-year history.

It was a jaw-dropping and jubilant moment, with many expressing surprise that the typically safe-skewing Oscars dared to finally give the biggest gong of all to a non-English language movie.

While it's unlikely that anything will ever quite match the explosiveness of 2017's La La Land/Moonlight screw-up, Parasite winning was nevertheless a colossal WTF moment in the annals of Oscar history, and one that won't be forgotten for years, perhaps even decades, to come.
