And finally, we have the Big One. For starters, we actually need to predict how many films will be nominated, given that the Academy's nebulous balloting system often results in less than 10 films being nominated.

In the 10 years since the field was expanded from a mere five nominees, we've had nine Best Picture nominees half the time, so we'll go with that.

From their general performance so far, we can deem 1917, The Irishman, Marriage Story, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Parasite absolute locks, while there's not much reason to doubt Jojo Rabbit, Joker, or Little Women.

That leaves behind a single slot to be fought out between Ford v Ferrari, Knives Out, and The Two Popes. The Two Popes missed out on a Producers Guild of America nomination, and Ford v Ferrari simply feels like a more comfortable and familiar Best Picture nominee than Knives Out, so that'll probably take it.
