Production Design is one of the most fiercely contested categories this year, and settling on a decisive winner is no easy task.

War films rarely perform well due to the implication that wide-open spaces don't need much design - just tell that to Sam Mendes and his crew - but BAFTA voters did nevertheless give the win to 1917.

Still, the Brit boost from BAFTA must be considered, and while it's possible that Parasite's more understated production design sneaks the win, the exuberant style of Tarantino's latest announces itself far more loudly and proudly than any other nominee, and voters tend to like that.
