7. The Painfully Unfunny "Comedy" Segments

The Oscars' comedy skits have always been a hugely mixed bag, and this year's show was no exception, though left an especially sour taste given that they stole precious time that could've - and should've - been allotted to the eight cast-off categories.

A lousy opening segment from the three hosts, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall, was mostly a bust, unaided by the inexplicable presence of DJ Khaled on the stage.

So much of the on-stage humour felt low-effort and perfunctory: gags about snubbed potential nominees, how hot Timothee Chalamet is, and worst of all an ill-advised segment where Hall mimicked sexually harassing Jason Momoa under the guise of a "COVID test."

Though Amy Schumer fared far better when monologuing on her own, for the most part the show's jokes felt like bad gags discarded by the SNL writers room.
