6. Top Gun: Maverick & RRR Are Now Oscar-Winning Movies

Sing it loud and proud - Top Gun: Maverick and Tollywood sensation RRR are both now Oscar-winning movies.

While a few months ago it seemed like the Top Gun sequel would go home with a number of below-the-line awards - and some even believed it a possible Best Picture spoiler - it was still great to see it scoop a well-earned Best Sound award.

And the terrifically enjoyable RRR, despite bafflingly not being submitted by India for Best International Film, got a nifty consolation prize with a Best Original Song win for the infectious earworm "Naatu Naatu."

In terms of pure entertainment value Maverick and RRR are two of the best movies of the past year, and now in addition to being pop-culture phenomenons they've also got an Oscar each.
