2. The In Memoriam Segment Forgets Paul Sorvino, Anne Heche, Charlbi Dean & More

While it's simply impossible for the Academy to honour every member of the film industry who passed away over the past year, as usual this year's otherwise moving In Memoriam montage featured a number of peculiar omissions.

Among the more surprising names left out of the montage were Anne Heche, Paul Sorvino, Leslie Jordan, Phillip Baker Hall, David Warner, Kevin Conroy, Jean-Louis Trintignant, and most surprisingly of all Charlbi Dean, who had a major role in Best Picture nominee Triangle of Sadness.

Some of the omitted actors were instead relegated to a separate tribute section on the Academy's website which viewers could access through a QR code which appeared on-screen for a few seconds.

While it's easy to appreciate why controversial actors like Robert Blake - whose absence Kimmel even joked about - and Tom Sizemore didn't make the cut, the Academy once again didn't allocate enough time for the things about the show that truly matter.

It's hard not to see these omissions as tacky when the show still finds plentiful time for lousy comedy segments and literal commercials for Disney movies. Speaking of which...
