56. Kramer Vs. Kramer (1979)

A fine example of an excellent movie of its time which hasn't aged tremendously well, especially in recent years, Kramer vs. Kramer makes a fairly on-the-nose plea for men's parenting rights.

What elevates it are the extremely touching performances from Dustin Hoffman and young Justin Henry, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the mere age of eight, and remains the youngest ever acting nominee almost four decades later.

The intentions were certainly noble and it has a point to make, though it feels clumsy when viewed through a contemporary lens. There's also no conceivable reality where it should've beaten Apocalypse Now for Best Picture, but them's the breaks.
