The hit blockbuster received a sole Oscar nod for Best Visual Effects, but were the movie's fairly mediocre array of blurry, glossy effects-driven set-pieces really worthy of a nomination? It's another instance where it feels like most effects were nominated rather than best.

Were Free Guy's VFX really more impressive than other snubbed blockbusters like Godzilla vs. Kong or No Time to Die?

It's a tough argument to make, but it appears that Oscar voters were bamboozled by the sheer muchness spectacle of the larger-than-life tentpole.

This is nothing against Free Guy as a movie, but it really doesn't deserve to be here.
