Peter Jackson And Steven Spielberg Are Working Together On A Mystery Project

But it isn't TinTin.

Things have been pretty quiet from Peter Jackson since finishing The Hobbit in December 2014, with no signs where the Middle-Earth director will go next. And while we don't know what exactly he's working on, care of some choice words from Steven Spielberg we do now know he's working on a project for the master's Amblin/Dreamworks studio:

"Peter was so busy with The Hobbit that it took him away from Tintin and he's doing another film for my company now. It's a secret, nobody knows about it. Then after that he'll do Tintin."

He wouldn't divulge any more info, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's a smaller, more personal film from the Kiwi director; The Hobbit was a clear drain on Jackson, and before taking on a massive CGI project it's likely he'll want a pallet cleanser.

Of course, this isn't the first time the men behind Indiana Jones and The Lord Of The Rings have worked together - Spielberg directed the Jackson-produced The Adventures Of TinTin all the way back in 2011. The original plan with TinTin was for the pair to alternate directing/producing across a series of mo-cap adventure films, but because of their ever-growing schedules - Jackson became swamped with The Hobbit and Spielberg's taking up more projects than ever - it kind of fell by the wayside.

Gone but not forgotten, it seems, given that Spielberg made a point of how once Jackson's done with this film he'll finally bring us a sequel to that, which will probably arrive almost a decade after the first.
