Never, ever underestimate the near-universal appeal of Pokémon, which combined with the popularity of Ryan Reynolds and the potential for this to be the first truly good video game movie should result in a cracking $800+ million cume.

There are many passionate cheerleaders who believe Detective Pikachu could go as high as $1 billion, but with it releasing two weeks after Avengers: Endgame and two weeks before Aladdin, we'll go a little more pessimistic.

Don't be shocked if it massively exceeds this figure, but there's virtually no chance it goes any lower, even if the reviews (somehow) stink.
