Predicted Box Office: $300 million (projected $20 million loss)

Even though there's a fair chance Aquaman's solo movie is actually pretty decent, especially with Furious 7's James Wan in the director's chair, Warner Bros. might regret spending $160 million on the film after the lukewarm audience and critical response to Justice League.

The dubious appeal of Aquaman having his own movie combined with a clear audience exasperation with the DCEU makes it hard to believe anything that isn't a Wonder Woman sequel will actually be a financial smash hit.

Plus, it's releasing amid an immensely busy Christmas period, where it'll have to compete with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Bumblebee: The Movie and Mary Poppins Returns, to name just a few.

Solid reviews could help it out, but it's easy to believe that most casual comic book fans will just rent it rather than splash out on a cinema ticket.
