Box Office: Despite the obvious kitschy appeal of its premise and a moderate $35 million price tag, the lack of major star power clearly hurt this one, as it opened to less than half of initial projections, and to date has only barely recouped one-third of its budget.

Verdict: You have to give this movie some measure of credit: it knows exactly what it is, has no pretensions otherwise, and basically delivers the idiotic thrills its audience demands.

Sure, the set-pieces look painfully low budget - especially the hilarious PS2-era CGI - and the family narrative is boring as hell, but it really hits its stride in act three, with every remaining cent having clearly been splashed onto the screen.

It's a little lethargic at times, but honestly, far more in on the joke than you might've initially given it credit for.
