Ranking August 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

The end of August signals the conclusion of the summer blockbuster season, and while it's been a pretty solid haul on the whole, August was certainly a mixed bag when it came to tentpole fare.

Indeed, most of this past month's best movies came out of the mid-budget and art-house arena, many of them even going straight to Netflix as the streaming giant's acclaimed Originals brand continues to grow.

Yes, a number of horrendous duds landed in cinemas over the last month, some genuinely disappointing and others largely unexpected, but at least August also saw the release of several films sure to earn cult classic status in the coming months and years, regardless of box office success.

As for what September holds, then? Well, It is sure to annihilate the box office short of a disaster, while Kingsman: The Golden Circle also looks to make a dent, and artier offerings such as Wind River and Darren Aronofsky's Mother! signal the beginnings of the annual Oscar season circus...
