11. Rough Night

Box Office: Smartly budgeted at a svelte $20 million, the ensemble black comedy grossed significantly below expectations and embarrassingly opened at #7 in its first weekend. It has at least doubled its budget, though, and home video sales will ensure it's no flop.

Verdict: Neither as bad as you might've expected nor as good as you probably hoped, Rough Night is an oft-intriguing feminist comedy-thriller that benefits from the presences of Kate McKinnon and Jillian Bell in particular.

However, it also doesn't lean into its darkly funny premise as eagerly as it could have, and unfortunately ends up going the disappointingly sappy route. Plus, Scarlett Johansson is weirdly boring in it.
