Box Office: Opening squarely amid expectations, the R-rated spy spoof has crawled past its $40 million budget and cracked the $50 million mark, though having been on release in the U.S. for a month already, it's an undeniable disappointment. It's definitely the sort of film that could thrive at home, though.

Verdict: While the comedy is an incredibly mixed bag here, The Spy Who Dumped Me is a surprisingly tenacious and effective action film, with director Susanna Fogel delivering unexpectedly slick, brutal violence, boosted by a permissive R rating.

Mila Kunis is basically just part of the furniture, but Kate McKinnon is a blast (to a point), even if the film is clearly a little too heavy on inconsistent improv, and wildly over-extends itself with a near-two-hour runtime.

There's no reason at all to catch this in cinemas, but at home? It's fine.
