Like Carter, composer Ludwig Göransson spent a lot of time researching in Africa to delve into different musical instruments and styles from across the continent, and it works to bring something completely fresh to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while also heightening the emotion of certain scenes.

At the same time, however, the score does take a backseat to the soundtrack - produced by Kendrick Lamar - so it might not have done enough to stand out.

Chances Of Winning: Even if it gets the nomination, it'll have heavyweights like First Man and If Beale Street Could Talk ahead of it. 3/10
