19. Daddy's Home

RottenTomatoes Score: 30% (4.9) Box Office: The $50 million comedy opened second behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens in its opening weekend, and has soared past its price tag, ensuring it will likely play well over the next few weeks and end up as a solid hit. Verdict: A so-so comedy driven by its hilarious supporting cast (especially Hannibal Buress) as much as leads Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, this is the same formulaic family comedy you've seen a dozen times before, but it does serve up some intermittent chuckles, so you can't write it off entirely. There's nothing here especially memorable (except perhaps for that amazing end-film cameo), but it's sporadically enjoyable while you're watching, and has its moments. Just don't expect to be re-watching it as consistently as, say, Step Brothers or The Other Guys. It's a perfect example of a low-effort Hollywood comedy that just so happens to land some solid laughs throughout.
