Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best

23. The Weather Man (2005)

Paramount Pictures

Another criminally underrated effort in Cage's filmography is this rich character study from none other than Pirates of the Caribbean's Gore Verbinski.

Cage is mesmerising as downtrodden weatherman David Spritz, who comes to consider his existence in the midst of a mid-life crisis.

Though not necessarily saying much new, between Cage's captivating performance and an appealingly philosophical script, it's low-key one of the strongest and most memorable character pieces of his entire career.

22. The Cotton Club (1984)

Orion Pictures

Though it's fair to say that Cage's second collab with Francis Ford Coppola is one of those movies where its troubled production is more interesting than the final film itself, it's still a solidly engaging period crime drama.

While Richard Gere plays the lead role of Michael "Dixie" Dwyer, Cage gets a memorable supporting part as his gangster brother Vincent, in a film which balances its melodramatic inclinations with smart directorial choices and gorgeous visuals.
