Box Office: Greta Gerwig's Saoirse Ronan-starring coming-of-age dramedy has made almost $50 million against a mere $10 million budget, driven by huge Oscar hype and some of the strongest reviews of the last year.

Verdict: Lady Bird is a terrifically acid-tongued, devilishly witty drama about growing up that manages to make a familiar premise feel fresh thanks to Gerwig's unique perspective and yet another marvellous performance from Saoirse Ronan.

Laurie Metcalf and Timothée Chalamet are also spectacular in memorable supporting roles, helping Gerwig's film become even more relatable and stingingly true to life.
