Ranking January 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

19. Mortdecai

RottenTomatoes Score: 12% (3.3 out of 10) Box Office: Since releasing last week, it's grossed a pathetically dismal $10.4 million against a $60 million budget, making it 2015's second notable financial failure. Serving up Johnny Depp's fifth consecutive starring flop following The Rum Diary, Dark Shadows, The Lone Ranger and Transcendence, Mortdecai is a movie trying to coast almost solely on the charm of its lead actor, but even he can't do much here other than flail around helplessly, desperately trying to wring laughs from a woefully malnourished script. Despite a fab cast including Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow, this naff art heist tries to hearken back to the days of The Pink Panther, but honestly, is there really an audience for that brand of humour in today's cynical world? The box office cume and critical drubbing suggest not.
