RottenTomatoes Score: 6% (3.3/10) Box Office: With a reported budget of approximately $1 million, Martyrs doesn't exactly need to do much to break even on the Blu-ray and VOD market, though unsurprisingly distributor Anchor Bay also haven't been very forthcoming with revenue info. Verdict: This remake of the classic 2008 French horror flick isn't so much terrible as pointless, an evidently cheap but fairly well-made and solidly acted affair that never once justifies a reason for its own existence...except for those too lazy to read subtitles. In short, everything great about the original gets an inferior treatment, the edges have been softened and it lacks the bracing visceral impact that made the original so damn good. Avoid.
