10. The Polka King

Verdict: Jack Black gives one of his best performances of the last few years in this stranger-than-fiction story about a Polish-American polka performer who ended up running a Ponzi scheme.

Cleverly blending its darker and wackier elements together into a transfixing whole, the movie may ultimately feel a bit like Scorsese-lite, but thanks to the performances of Black, Jenny Slate, Jacki Weaver and Jason Schwartzman, there's nary a dull moment to be found.

It's hardly vital cinema, but a fascinating glimpse into a life you probably know nothing about all the same.
