Box Office: Despite being quietly released direct-to-VOD in most countries, the Escape Plan sequel nobody asked for has recouped $14 million of its $20 million budget to date, grossing over $13 million in China alone.
Throw in all those VOD sales and it's probably a minor success...somehow.
Verdict: The fact that an Arnold Schwarzenegger-less sequel to Escape Plan even exists, let alone one co-starring Dave Bautista and featuring a cameo from Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, is absolutely mind-boggling.
One-upping the absurdity of the original though lacking most of its charm or basic action-packed appeal, this is hilariously cheap, churned-out cinematic muck with only a few scattered moments of unintentional hilarity to keep audiences awake.
What's more, a third film has already been shot and is due for release in the near-future.
