Ranking June 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

Sequels disappoint, original movies soar.

Summer blockbuster season is in full swing, and June certainly served up its share of highly anticipated movies, from tentpole sequels and spin-offs to buzzed-about art-house offerings.

Unfortunately, it's fair to say that most of the big-budget fare this month actually fell pretty short of the mark, generally proving passably decent at best and shockingly disappointing at worst.

There were also low-effort limited releases that failed to hit the mark, while June's best-reviewed films were typically fresh off the festival circuit or sent directly to Netflix.

Though the streaming platform has a well-earned rep for just dumping bad movies with minimal marketing, they actually delivered a number of quality genre films this past month well worth checking out. It's just a shame they don't actively advertise these films.

With June in the rear-view, though, what does July have to offer? Upcoming releases include The First Purge, Skyscraper, Incredibles 2, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Mission: Impossible - Fallout and Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation. Get hype.
