Box Office: The $32 million thriller might be one of the most unique mainstream releases of the year so far, but as is so often the case, that didn't translate into box office success.

Poor marketing likely contributed to it opening below expectations and still failing to even make its budget back. It's got cult classic written all over it once it hits home video, but it's still a damn shame audiences didn't turn up for it in cinemas.

Verdict: If you can accept its hefty 141-minute run-time, the latest effort from Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) is an ambitious, surprising and deliriously entertaining Tarantino-esque ensemble thriller.

Beautifully shot and terrifically acted - especially by Cynthia Erivo and Jeff Bridges - Bad Times at the El Royale is a bold gamble that pays off for the most part.
