Having made their printed debut way back in 1958, it would be another half a century before The Smurfs were awarded the chance to star in their own feature-length movie, which managed to earn over half a billion dollars at the box office despite being terrible.
At least it wasn't as bad as the sequel, which people disliked so much that it made over $200m less in theaters and forced the studio to abandon any plans for a trilogy. But don't worry, The Smurfs were eventually rebooted in 2017's forgotten The Lost Village.
