70. The Shining Sequence

Warner Bros.

Easily the best sequence in the entire movie is reserved for the second task when Parzival and the High Five head to the cinema to revisit Halliday's first date with Kira. They discover through interpreting his clue that he took her to see The Shining (BAD date movie there, pal) where he failed to kiss her.

That leads to them entering a pitch-perfect remake of the Overlook Hotel (the theatre they go to is the Overlook Theatre too), where they relive some of the most famous scenes from Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of the book. We get to see the twins, Room 237, the maze and the elevator of blood and honestly, it's just glorious.

69. The Fly (And Other Films Halliday Saw)

When the High Five are trying to discern which movie Halliday would have taken Kira to at the cinema, The Fly comes up as one of the movies he saw in the period. Say Anything is also there, but that's not a horror, obviously, unless you really hate romance.

The infamous killer red car from the Stephen King novel is also on the race starting grid.
