4. Minerva McGonagall – Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton would also be capable of playing Bellatrix, but she would be even better at playing Professor McGonagall.

The Hogwarts Transfiguration teacher is a very interesting character. On the surface, she’s a strict disciplinarian who does not tolerate any form of misbehaviour in her class. On a deeper level, however, she’s a kind and considerate individual.

Swinton would obviously excel at the more frightening side of Professor McGonagall. (Her portrayal of the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is an obvious example of her ability to be intimidating.) And she would be equally capable of the warmer side of McGonagall given her vast and diverse roles in the film industry which include many avant-garde movies as well as major blockbusters.

If Swinton were to accept the role, her character would hopefully be given plenty of screen time because McGonagall was underused in the original movies despite a brilliant performance from Maggie Smith.
