5. Dolly

Dolly is one of those rare horror films whose vibes are so overpoweringly gross that you'll feel itchy by the time it's all over and desperately want to scrub yourself clean.

This 70s-styled grindhouse film, shot on 16mm film and clearly modelled after The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, follows a young woman who finds herself fighting to flee the clutches of a deranged serial killer who intends to raise her as their child.

And filmmaker Rod Blackhurst certainly doesn't pull his punches with the full extent of what this means, to say nothing of the film's assemblage of brutal violence.

It all adds up to a deeply unpleasant experience, as it should, but probably not one you'll ever want to step back into - especially considering how much better The Texas Chain Saw Massacre did it five decades prior.

You'll need a serious affinity for grindhouse homages to give this one a second look.
