5. In the Blink of an Eye

In the Blink of an Eye is the second live-action feature film from Andrew Stanton, best known for helming classic Pixar animations such as Finding Nemo and WALL-E, before making a prior failed foray into the live-action realm with 2012's uber-flop John Carter.

His latest effort, an epic, milennia-spanning sci-fi drama starring Kate McKinnon, Rashida Jones, and Daveed Diggs wrapped shooting all the way back in May 2023, with reports emerging late last year that delays were caused by extensive rewrites and reshoots.

More to the point, Stanton was locked in a disagreement with Disney over whether the film should be theatrically released or dumped on streaming - all while he was also directing the recently released Toy Story 5.

Though In the Blink of an Eye finally premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, almost three years after it started shooting, reviews were brutal, prompting it to be quietly released on Disney's streaming service Hulu a month later to little fanfare.

Needless to say, with two expensive live-action flops to his name, all while his animated films continue to print money, it's clear in which cinematic medium Stanton's strengths lie.
