"Sent out to die" is a pretty common fate for Guy Ritchie films these days - despite releasing six movies since the pandemic hit, and having another two in post-production, only a single one of these has turned a profit theatrically.

And while most of them are of relatively middling quality, they're still star-studded affairs and Ritchie's name continues to carry a lot of cachet, yet each has been given only a most minimal marketing push before being sent to streaming.

But Ritchie's most recent release, In the Grey, is his most egregious dump project yet.

Though it wrapped back in October 2023, it wasn't released until this past May, reportedly due to difficulties co-ordinating the schedules of stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, and Eiza Gonzalez for reshoots.

Original distributor Lionsgate ended up losing patience and relinquishing the rights, prompting production company Black Bear to give up on reshoots and self-distribute the film, where it unsurprisingly flopped, grossing just shy of $30 million on a $70 million budget.
