Just when you thought official movie music soundtracks were stuck in an irretrievable rut thanks to the likes of Fall Out Boy's Ghostbuster's theme and Rihanna's "Sledgehammer" for Star Trek Beyond, along comes David Brent to set the world right.

The comic creation of Ricky Gervais is heading to the big screen in what promises to be one of the most cringe-worthy movies ever made, and he's released the lead single from Brent's Foregone Conclusion band.

Inevitably, it's brilliant, provocative and makes for delightfully difficult viewing. It's Brent at his finest, in other words, riffing on popular folk pop music and writing a narrative of a love affair with a possible prostitute that only Brent could be capable of penning. You can almost imagine him congratulating himself over the lyrical genius.
