In the hit Tom Cruise led-action flick Jack Reacher, Pike plays Helen Rodin, a lawyer and daughter of the District Attorney (Richard Jenkins), whose life gets put in danger once she starts helping Jack investigate a case. Though not an outright awful performance, the script just gives Pike little to do, and as a result her work plays as curiously phoned-in. She mainly just follows the dull breadcrumbs and reels off exposition, before predictably being kidnapped and transformed into a lame damsel-in-distress in the movie's finale. Though she's certainly nice to look at in her cleavage-enhancing outfit (and director Christopher McQuarrie ensures to feature as much of it as possible), it feels relatively icky considering that Pike was 5 months pregnant at the time of shooting. Above all else, Pike just doesn't put much effort or enthusiam into the role: it feels like she's just going through the motions, but then given the forgettable script, it's not really surprising.
